Ingredients

  • 8 ounces water or unsweetened 100% fruit juice
  • 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 1 tablespoon coconut or flax seed oil optional
  • 1 serving vanilla whey protein Such as this one
  • Ice cubes as desired
  • 1 tablespoon ground flax seeds or chia seeds optional

Instructions

  • Blend the water or juice, frozen berries and coconut or flax seed oil (if using) together for about 1 minute.
  • Add the protein powder and continue blending for 1 minute.
  • Add the ice and blend for another minute or until the smoothie is thick and creamy.
  • Add the flax seeds or chia seeds and blend for about 10 more seconds. (if using)

Notes

Change up your protein powder with a 100% vegan formulation. Less creamy in texture (more, like a fruit slushie), this protein powder will keep you full for hours due to its unique combination of brown rice and pea proteins.
Keep your freezer stocked with a variety of berries (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, etc.) for unlimited smoothie combos at your fingertips. Packaged frozen berries can be pricey, so do look for sales. To enjoy local seasonal berries all year round: wash and freeze individually on wax paper. Store berries in freezer-safe containers or bags. Berries may be kept frozen up to 4 months.
